1.Don't Try To Hard
Years ago internet marketers could stuff tons of keywords in their meta descriptions and all over their webpages and get great rankings. But these days, search engines have developed methods of knowing when a webmaster is overdoing it. Putting too many keywords on your site will actually be detrimental to your search engine rankings. This goes for the text as well as in your titles. When you have an unusually high amount of keywords, your page will look like spam and could repel people. This can give you a high bounce rate, which is something that the search engines frown upon.
2. Use Internal Links
Internal links are links that connect to pages within your website. Have links for different sections of your website, and refer to them often. For example, if you are creating a new blog post, you could refer to something in one of the articles within your site and provide a link to that article within the new blog post. Another useful strategy is to put an internal link within the first few sentences of a piece of content. This works because the search engines will detect that link right away.
3. Use ALT Tags, Meta Tags, And Title Tags
These tags are crawled by the search engines and can be a great help in getting your site indexed and ranked. An ALT tag is a short description of something on your site. The ALT tag will appear whenever you hover your mouse over a particular thing on your webpage. It could be an image, logo, etc. Good meta description tags will bring in more traffic. Google displays meta descriptions on their search results pages. So make sure yours is relevant to the keywords you are ranking for. Also make sure it is 155 characters or less. The title tag is very important because it is what a person will see and click on when they view the search results. So make sure it is interesting and catchy so people will be compelled to click on it. Also, make sure it is no more than 60-70 characters max.
4. Quality Over Quantity
Keyword density is less important than it once was. It is not enough anymore to just put up tons of keyword rich content. Search engines now care more about the value provided to the user. Sites that can get a visitor to take an action (such as make a purchase, opt in, comment, etc.) are the sites that will get high rankings. Sites that do not convert well will go down in rank, even if they have an abundance of keywords.
