SEO Articles
Today, most businesses and enterprises have expanded their market through the internet. With the advancement of the capabilities of the internet, entrepreneurs can now interact with their customers online. People can look, try, or shop for any products that are available online. However, the population for businesses selling their goods online is growing at a fast rate. Competition is greater when you have all the shops gathered in the cyber world. What are the odds of a business being visited by an online customer? Fundamentally speaking, the probability is one out of the total number of their competitors.
With this in mind, computer experts and businessmen have devised a way to increase their chances of being found by a customer. This is called Search Engine Optimization.
What is it?
This is a process of improving a website's content, structure and processes so that they would be more visible to online visitors. This was designed as an internet marketing strategy to increase the likelihood of people visiting a certain website.
It came into popularity during the 1990's when search engines were just beginning the organizing process. Website owners or webmasters would submit their web addresses or URLs and a programmed spider would "crawl" through the contents of the site and extract all the available links in it, and sent it back to the engine. The next step would be to index the information. This process involves a programmed indexer to download the pages of the selected site and begin extracting the words contained on the page; indexers would then send other links back to the spider so it can "crawl" on the link at a later time.
Webmasters realized the importance of having their site shown on the first pages of the search website because visitors often visit the top most indexed websites. They also found out that the higher the keyword density is on their website, the higher their visibility rate is on results. This led to the birth of the SEO. This term was first documented with John Audette who was with the company Multimedia Marketing Group in 1997.
Optimizers-Early Works
Early webmasters had the tendency of relying too much on keyword densities for their search visibility. This led them to resort to over-saturating their sites with keywords; search sites then experienced abuse through this method. However, companies like Google, Yahoo and Bing found new ways to increase the relevance and reliability of their search results. By using more complex algorithms, search engines gave users with more highly reliable results and not just those sites that provided dense keyword with no sense at all.
Status as of Today
With the increase in the capabilities and knowledge of web developers, they have produced many other ways on how to increase a websites visibility. However, developers have prevented such from abusing their algorithms by periodically updating them. This made the life of optimizers more challenging but fulfilling when they are able to successfully apply it to a website.
