SEO Blog Writing Best Practices

SEO Articles
While many experienced SEO service providers argue over numerous aspects of SEO best practices, experts will agree that 'content is king'.
Content writing is among the most elusive of all aspects of SEO when it comes to business owners adding value to their websites. With good reason!! You purchased a new website for your business and are taking other proactive measures to enhance your online presence. Why should you spend more valuable time writing articles when you could be focusing on your business operations?
It's true, you are busy and need one of a couple of things from your website -- to save time, generate leads, make sales, and entertain or educate your site users about your products or services.
The bottom line is, continuous, effective blog writing can do just that and more. I understand that not every business owner is a writer and some of you may cringe at the thought writing articles. But by adding unique content to your site, you can rise above your competition. It's also very cost-effective!
Those of you who do take the leap without proper understanding of best practices can make your efforts less successful and in some cases actually hurt your website's ranking in the search engines.
Not to worry. I have combined my professional experience with some good old-fashioned research to help you create quality blog articles. Below you will see an example blog post I created about 'My New Red Tandem Bicycle' -- where 'My New Red Tandem Bicycle' should be replaced by a keyword phrase related directed to your business. Check it out...
My New Red Tandem Bicycle
I am so excited to tell you about my new bright red tandem bicycle! It's a twin rider that I found on at a local bike store. I have been looking all over for a twin bike like this one for quite a while so the high price was not a problem. The salesman at the bike shop was so kind, he hopped on the bike with me for a test drive to get a real feel for what its like to ride double. After we settled on the bill, he threw in a free tire pump and helped me put it in my truck. For those of you who may also be interested in purchasing a bicycle for two, I have read numerous reviews on tandem bicycles. An article on the Livestrong Website was very informative and helped educate me on my purchase.
My best friend and I rode the bike 6 miles down the pacific coast highway and I learned some important lessons. The thing that sticks out the most in my mind is when we were peddling uphill it was much harder to maintain momentum. After some heavy breathing, I looked back to see that my friend was not peddling! She totally tried to play it off but I know she was being lazy!
For those of you who either have a tandem bike, would like to try one or are in the market for one, I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Enjoy the ride!
Let's Review
As you can see this article tells a story, and informs users about their topic. It provides several synonyms of the targeted keyword phrase without super redundant, and otherwise annoying duplication. The article is a decent length and provides more information for interested readers to further their research. It also asks for feedback which can boost awareness of the article through sharing and comments. The comments are also a great way for the writer to learn even more about the topic or help answer questions readers might have.
Let's breakdown the major components of the article's consistency...
- Targeted Keyword Phrase in Blog Title
- Targeted keyword phrase in the URL (pretty permalinks)
- Targeted keyword phrase reinforced in first paragraph
- Be descriptive and informative, going above just stating the obvious. Don't repeat the exact same keyword phrase over and over. Make sure you think about what information your audience would appreciate reading in regards to your article
- Well titled images -- use your targeted keyword phrase in the image title
- Throughout the blog article use synonyms of your targeted keyword phrase
- Provide references and other useful sources of information for users who wish to learn more
- Keep the 'tag' number around 5, with 10 being the maximum
- Encourage user to provide their own experiences, tips, or ask questions about the topic
With this information, you are now armed to the teeth (as my father would say) to write incredibly effective blog articles for your website.Since you made it this far, I highly recommend checking out the related links below from other well established platforms that pique your interest.
