If your online business isn't performing like it can, then raising your search engine ranking may be the best way for you to start turning it around. Too many people put off SEO because they think it takes too long, or isn't worth it. When you use Google, how often do you go to the 18th page? Never! You need to be in the top three, or you and your online business are not going to stay online much longer.
Google released, and will continue to release, updates to its algorithm determining search rankings. How can an Internet marketer keep his or her site at the top? If you follow a few of these hot tips, then you will see your rankings skyrocket, and then continue to stay in orbit.
Regardless if you're using Google Analytics, it's important that your bounce rate and time-on-site are inversely related to most benefit you. Keep that bounce rate as low as possible by offering a landing page which has plenty of great content in easily viewable, interestingly-anchored links. Don't use "click here," instead try something like, "Turn Your $7 Product Into A $97 Hotcake With Just One Click." This will also increase your time-on-site, and your rank.
Have as unique a design as possible; unique images, themes, content, coding, everything you can think of to make your site as unique as your business is. Make sure your write-ups are unique on-page, although you can repurpose it with other mediums, so long as it's not a copy-and-paste situation.
Use Google+ like it's going out of style (it very well may be). You'd have to be crazy to think Google wouldn't give special treatment to its very own social network and +1 system. I suggest every post you have on your page. Use all the other social media outlets as well. You may even want to go so far as to buy some from a site like Fiverr.com. This will give you a type of authority very difficult to get from the ground up naturally.
Don't fill your pages up with tons and tons of ads. It's not hard to tell a site that's all ads won't rank well at all. Try to keep each page with at least half, if not more than, of the ads "below the fold." That just means visitors need to scroll down to see them, as opposed to just being visible the second the page loads.
Make good use of Web 2.0's. Make a Tumblr and/or a YouTube account for your business. Have lots of content on these, and make them point to your site, but don't just link to the homepage. It's important that you build backlinks to your inner pages as well. This means your blog posts need backlinks too. You can blast blog comments and guestbook backlinks to your Web 2.0's to rank them. That is the basis of a "link pyramid," and it will have your online business looking like a true authority in no time.
These are just a few of the modern ways to rank your site on the top three pages of Google. Make great use of your anchor texts, unique content, social media, and Web 2.0's.
