SEO or blogging is a lot like farming. At least it is like farming when people do blogging or SEO right. There are a lot of parallels between search engine optimization and farming. This is because a person never knows what they are going to get until they have it. In farming, this would be like planting crops. A farmer never knows how much of those crops are going to survive the winter for whatever season it might be until it is time to harvest the crops.
In blogging, a person will develop post-in hopes of driving traffic to their website. Usually this post has some kind of monetization method attached to it. Therefore, farming this one crop has to deliver some sort of money. However, often times these posts or pages do not do so. Therefore, a person has spent a lot of time on a project that does not deliver the results that the business owner wanted it to deliver.
Therefore, just like a farmer, a person should develop as many blog posts or pages as possible to give them the best chance of creating a winning crop. One of my Internet marketing mentors swears that success on the Internet is more about the shotgun burst. Internet marketing online is not like snipering targets it is more like casting a net into the sea and finding out what kinds of fish are in the ocean. When you find what kinds of fish are in the ocean you can make a plan for capturing more of those types of fish.
Therefore, farmer's mentality about blog posts, pages, or just web pages works well in the search engines optimized space. It just makes sense to have as many assets on the Internet as possible so that the business owner or webpage owner can find out what actually delivers traffic to the website and what will be effective.
Again, major problem with most people's search engine optimization campaigns is that they spend too much time on one article or post that has not proven itself to be effective, yet. It is far better to let the market decide what a business owner or webpage owner should spend their time trying to capture through their SEO methods. A business owner or webpage owner who does this is giving himself or herself a fair shot at generating the traffic and conversions they need to stay open.
Therefore, a business owner with a mind to develop as many blog posts or pages on a website will do better than those people who spend their time trying to develop a perfect page or post. A website owner with the mind to develop as many assets as possible will get marketing intelligence that is only available to those people who spend the time to develop a strategy around what is really happening in a market. Those people who focus on making everything perfect will not get the marketing intelligence they need to be successful (or if they do get marketing intelligence it is much slower than the person who has a lot of assets on the search engines).
